Club Policy 

  1. The following terms and conditions apply to all students who attend trainings at any and all of the Mu Te Shin Dojo’s Bristol; including Ninpo Goshinjutsu Mu Te Jinen Ryu, Mu Te Shin Do Ninjutsu, Samurai School, programs; hereafter referred to as the dojo.
  2. Students must comply with the terms and conditions as set out hereafter. All those who disagree shall not participate or be barred from the dojo.
  3. All students must demonstrate a high level of self control in and out of the dojo and therefore any student who participates in public disorder, disgraceful or reproachable acts, disruptive behaviour, or commit crimes will face instant dismissal and forfeit all membership and training fees.
  4. All students will be provided with an intial 4 week trial period after which students must purchase a membership and insurance from the dojo; proof of which must be supplied at all classes or events.
  5. All students must ensure that complete and correct personal information is supplied to the dojo when required; it is the responsibility of the student (or guardian) to ensure that any changes to this information is communicated to the dojo.
  6. All students agree to follow the directions of instructors at all times. If a student feels they have cause to complain they should forward such complaints to Robert Armstrong (Chief Instructor).
  7. All students agree to confine practise to home or at the dojo and must not disclose any related business or techniques to any 3rd party - Martial arts technique should only be used in the interests of self-preservation – talk first, fight last.
  8. All students agree to maintain a level of attendance that is sufficient to maintain their grade including attendance of extra events such as seminars, workshops and camps.
  9. All students agree to keep up to date with club activities and events; these are provided and updated regularly on www.goshinjutsu.com Martial Arts Events section.
  10. Only those instructors authorized by the dojo shall grade students.

Fees

  1. All students (parent or guardian if under 18) agree to pay an annual membership and insurance fee to the dojo, and/or its agents.  The dojo is not a licensed insurance broker and is merely a conduit to suitable insurance professionals and policies.
  2. All students (parent or guardian if under 18) agree to pay tuition fees; charges are subject to change.  Fees must be paid in advance of training on a monthly, or 'pay as you go' basis by either standing order, cash or cheque. Fees are due at the beginning of each class; those paying on a monthly basis their fees are due in advance by the start of the first class of each month.  Late payments shall incur interest charged at a rate 10% per annum calculated and applied to any outstanding amounts on a daily basis.  Any other costs incurred in the pursuit of outstanding fees will also be passed on to the student (parent of guardian if under 18).
  3. Students who are unable to train for 8 weeks or more consecutively within any 12 month period may be required to retest for their grades.  Normal grading fees shall apply.
  4. All cases should be discussed with, and are assessed, on a case by case basis with the dojo.

Training Equipment

  1. All students are responsible for the care of the clubs equipment and agree to pay for any damages caused by them through malicious or negligent actions.
  2. All students agree to purchase and maintain their personal training equipment as required by them according to their respective grades. This includes regular checks to ensure equipment is safe to use for both them and their training partners.

Health & Medical Problems

  1. It is the responsibility of the student, or guardian of the student, to report all health and medical conditions that may be affected or induced by physical or emotional training to the chief instructor prior to the commencement of training. If there any doubts at all, these should also be discussed with the chief instructor prior to training. All details in the strictest of confidence.
  2. All students agree to train at their own risk & indemnify the instructors from any and all liability.
  3. All students must carry their membership book to training containing their insurance and emergency contact details including details of any allergies.

Uniform

  1. All students must wear the uniform specified by their instructor and wear only belts of the grade awarded for the style they are participating in.
  2. Finger and toe nails must be cut, no jewellery including earrings and nose rings are to be worn, and long hair must be tied back with soft ties.
  3. All students agree to purchase or replace club and association badges and to ensure they are sewn onto their uniforms in the correct positions.
  4. All Samurai School and Samurai Kindy students are provided with protective gloves as part of their first membership.  These gloves are a compulsory part of the uniform and must accompany the child to every class.  Students are responsible for the care of these items and agree to replace them should they fall into disrepair or unsuitable for use.
  5. Samurai School Instructors & Assistant Instructors: Black bottoms and white top with the official Samurai School badge sewn over left chest, the official white Samurai School Instructors & Assistant Instructors T-Shirt may be worn in substitute of the uniform jacket.  All other association badges should be worn on the right sleeve.
  6. Footwear is not compulsory but may be worn by students. The shoe must be purpose made for training such as Ninja Tabi (preferred) or Adidas karate style shoes.
  7. Any footwear that has been worn outside the dojo at anytime should NEVER touch the mats.
  8. Only specialised indoor Tabi are to be worn on the mats. Outdoor shoes are encouraged when training outdoors, and add realism to the training; styles that could cause injury are not allowed.

Children and Training

  1. Parents and guardians must be aware that it is against the policy of the club for any instructor to restrain a child, against their will, physically or otherwise, should a child wish to leave the training hall.  Therefore parents must be contactable at all times during the training session and remain within range to assist instructors should they feel it to be necessary.
  2. In the interest of safety all spectators must remain outside of the training hall at all times. If they wish, parents may watch through the glass panels provided in the main doors of the training hall.  Entry into the hall is by special invitation only.  At locations where viewing windows are not provided please consult with the head instructor.
  3. All students must be toilet trained and capable of dressing themselves.  It is against the dojo policy for any of representatives to assist children with such activities.
  4. All students are asked to use the change rooms when provided and parents are asked remain outside of these areas whilst children are changing.  Students who require adult assistance to change are requested to dress prior to attending the dojo.
  5. It is strictly forbidden for an adult student to change in the presence of a junior member of the club or be present in a room where that junior student is changing.
  6. Camera and video equipment, including mobile phones are strictly prohibited to all but the dojo head instructors and is restricted to the main training hall.  Students (or guardians) are requested to notify the dojo in writing if they do not wish to participate in video assessment.
  7. All suspicious behaviour or non compliance should be reported to the head instructor, or the dojo, as soon as possible.  Instructors should consult with their Child Protection Officer or call Crime Stoppers in matters of urgency.

Health & Safety 

  1. All students must show consideration for the health and safety of others; student’s who are found to be training under the influence of any drug or alcohol, fail to maintain a high level of personal hygiene or suffer from infectious illness or diseases will not be allowed to train and may face dismissal; student agrees to forfeit all membership & training fees.
  2. In the interest of safety disruptive students will be subject to disciplinary action such as light physical challenges or quiet time.  Consistent misbehaviour will result in suspension at first followed by expulsion from the club and the forfeit of membership and training fees. Disruptive meaning continual chatter, rudeness, failure to follow instruction etc.
